Alfie Oakes, Seed to Table, Naples, FL Joins Liberty and Justice with Matt Whitaker
On this episode of Liberty and Justice, Matt Whitaker welcomes Alfie Oakes, owner of Seed to Table in Naples, Florida for a conversation about freedom and patriotism.
Oakes’s success story is an example of the American Dream. He started his career out of small roadside produce stands selling strawberries and tomatoes, but grew it to a multi-million dollar business with several established stores and restaurants. The latest and most popular of these is now Seed to Table, which he describes as “an 80,000 square foot food mecca”.
Oakes acted as a leader for freedom in Florida during the COVID-19 pandemic when he stood up against mask mandates. He designated Seed to Table as a mask-free zone, ensuring the store was unaffected by local mask and vaccine mandates. Despite push back and protests, the store thrived and became an emblem of the return to normalcy after the pandemic with its abundance of goods and lively atmosphere.
Oakes reached further local political recognition for his outspoken stand against Black Lives Matter protests. He then faced protestors at the doors of Seed to Table and threats against his family. Yet, he maintained open dialogue with employees on the other side of the issue from him.
Oakes explains his hope to bridge the extremely divisive current political atmosphere. “The America that I lived in is where I’m going to respect and love you no matter what political affiliation…That’s the America I grew up in and that’s what’s kind of been lost here. If you’re on different sides of the aisle, you can’t agree to disagree.”
Oakes believes that his store gives hope for the preservation of freedom and that it encourages patriotism and love for America, not just in Florida, but across the country with critical midterm elections approaching.
