All the News the Left Permits Natalie Harp, Erik Finman, Kevin Roberts, and Papa John - CPAC FL 2022
Natalie Harp of One America’s News Network moderates a panel at CPAC Florida 2022 with Erik Finman, Kevin Roberts of the Heritage Foundation, and Papa John Schnatter, Former CEO of Papa John’s Pizza. The panel criticizes cancel culture and offers ideas for resisting censorship.
Schnatter was one of the first victims of cancel culture when he was pushed out of the very company he founded. He acknowledges that cancel culture is not exclusively affecting large corporations but is also crippling small businesses. Pandemic lockdowns and vaccine mandates, he points out, hit small businesses the hardest, forcing many non-compliant businesses to shutter.
Roberts calls for a figurative “second American revolution to take our establishments back.”
Finman embarked on his own effort to fight cancel culture with an alternative company but found it thwarted and millions of dollars stolen. Finman founded the Freedom Phone to protest the App Store’s restrictions on apps like Parler. The endeavor was immediately popular. It made three million dollars within hours of launching the company only for all three million dollars to be frozen and made completely inaccessible.
The panel agrees that alternative companies are the solution to the cancel culture promoted by mainstream companies.
