America UnCanceled: Julie Strauss Levin Joins to Discuss the War in Israel
Julie Strauss Levin continues the discussion of the war in Israel in this special episode of America Uncanceled with Mercedes Schlapp.
The Hamas attacks on Israel are the continuation of an ages long struggle of the Jewish people to reclaim their homeland and of the more recent, and intense, hostility of radical Islamists toward Jews in the Middle East. The effects of the attacks are not, however, limited to the Jewish people, but are attempts to undermine the entire Western civilization, which gives all the more reason for Americans and indeed the entire world to care about this war.
“For those who think this is just a Jewish problem, which would be bad enough as somebody of the Jewish faith, this is a Western civilization problem. These are fanatics who want to eradicate anybody who is not a radical Muslim and does not believe in Islam. They do not believe there is a place in the world for anyone to think other than their crazy psychology,” Levin explains.
The war is especially personal for Levin, whose nephew, a former member of the IDF is volunteering to fight, whose daughter, a medical doctor, is volunteering to provide medical care, and who has visited Israel and the area affected by the invasion herself on many occasions. Levin had, in fact, planned to visit Israel just recently to participate in an annual race that has since been cancelled, but is now taking the opportunity to run races in the United States while raising awareness of the atrocities of the Hamas terrorists committed against the Israeli people and of the needs of the Israeli people to restore peace and security to their nation.
