America UnCanceled: @TimMurtaugh Joins to Discuss the 2024 Election
Are the Republican primary candidates really closer than polling suggests? Host of Line Drive Podcast Tim Murtaugh says the answer is ‘No’, and sees President Donald Trump continuing to grow his lead.
“They have been trying to chip away at Donald Trump’s lead for months now using a variety of different ways, methods to do it, [such as] TV ads, on the ground campaigning, endorsements, all this other stuff, and nothing has worked. In fact, his lead keeps getting bigger and bigger and bigger, and this recent poll that you just talked about in Iowa is the biggest lead I’ve seen him have and it’s the first time I’ve seen over fifty percent,” Murtaugh says.
Though the field is ripe with many experienced and principled candidates, Murtaugh believes that various aspects from funding to timing and public appearance have stunted the campaigns of many of the candidates, but especially those of Ron DeSantis and Nikki Haley. Looking ahead to the general election, Murtaugh sees an uphill climb for the Republican nominee with a lot of swing states needing to be flipped.
