Brazilian Congressman Marcel Van Hattem joins Matt Schlapp on America Uncanceled to discuss the lawfare in Brazil.
Like in America, Brazil is suffering under a corrupt and politically-motivated justice system. Van Hattem explains that the current president, Lula Da Silva, has a history of corruption, being convicted of money laundering and corruption in 2018. However, the Supreme Court nullified these charges allowing Da Silva to run against Jair Bolsonaro in the 2022 election and take a third term. Similar to January 6 in the United States, Brazilians gathered on January 8 of 2022 to protest Da Silva’s regime. Over 1,000 people were arrested and many for simply being present at the protest. President Jair Bolsonaro is also experiencing similar lawfare to what President Donald Trump is experiencing. Bolsonaro has been and continues to be targeted by the Brazilian justice department, stripping him of his public servant status and from election ballots. The struggle is not over and Van Hattem believes the justice department will find a way to put Bolsonaro in jail.
“Yeah, I think this is their plan, for sure, and the only thing that really prevented it from happening so far is because he’s very popular,” predicted Van Hattem.

I’m fasting & praying. We put our hope in people. Good people, but people nevertheless.
