America UnCanceled: @WinsomeSears joins to discuss the pardon of Scott Smith and more!
Virginia Lieutenant Governor Winsome Sears discusses Governor Greg Youngkin’s pardon of Loudon County parent Scott Smith with Mercedes Schlapp on America Uncanceled. Smith was charged with disorderly conduct after expressing his frustration with the school board, which allowed and then covered up the sexual assault of his young daughter.
“You had a father who’s daughter had been raped and he wanted to understand how could this have happened. He came to his government, at that time, the school board, to ask them about policies that will cause his daughter to have to live with this for the rest of her life, and you can hear the ache in this dad, and he was summarily dragged out like a dog and charged with obstruction of justice and disorderly conduct,” Sears summarized.
Sears supported Youngkin’s pardon of Smith, a decision that came out of a place of empathy from one father to father. Afterwards, Smith commented that he accepted the governor’s pardon believing he would not receive fair treatment in the justice system.
In order to prevent more children and their parents from experiencing the same fate, or worse, Sears advocates for conservatives to be pro-active in voting strategies as another round of elections approaches by adopting the Left’s strategies of early voting, ballot harvesting, and voter registration efforts.
