CEO Goya Foods Bob Unanue Joins Matt Whitaker — Liberty and Justice
On this episode of Liberty and Justice, Bob Unanue, President and CEO of Goya Foods, joins host Matt Whitaker at the America First Agenda Conference with America First Policy Institute.
Unanue shares his life story, which continues to serve as inspiration for his vision for his company. Unanue looks to the example his parents set for him and his siblings as a child in the running of his business and raising of his own family. Faith and a strong work ethic are the two major tenets his family instilled in him that he continues to prioritize today.
“Number one, besides faith, the work ethic. We used to joke that we worked half a day, which is at least twelve hours and more than that, and my grandfather used to say, “If it was easy, everyone would do it,”” Unanue says.
His grandfather’s immigrant story is another great inspiration to Unanue. His grandfather, who immigrated from Italy, truly lived out and took the opportunity to achieve the American dream. Unanue admires how his grandfather worked tirelessly and boldly to better his own, his children’s, and his grandchildren’s opportunities.
Unanue was inspired to offer his public support of President Donald Trump because of the president’s shared appreciation of those principles of faith and hard work that are so dear to Unanue. Unfortunately, this move exposed Unanue and Goya Foods to an onslaught of vicious and unfounded attacks by the Left.
He saw more clearly, as well, how the Left misrepresents the Hispanic community. Unanue knows from his own experience as the president of the largest Hispanic food company in the United States that the Hispanic community is like any other community of immigrants. They are not victims but hard-working individuals looking to achieve the American dream and improve their lives and their children's lives.
