Daisy Cousens - CPAC Australia
Daisy Cousens addresses the many changes washing over Australia in the last year. Primarily, she speaks on the change in monarch with the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. She endorses an Australian constitutional monarchy and opposes an Australian republic. Those advancing an Australian republic are joining a dangerous group of left-wing liberals who see a republic as an opportunity to tear down a racist, colonialist institution. Daisy, however, sees no threat from the monarch, which has acted as a figurehead since the seventeenth-century. A republic is simply unnecessary as Australia already has a head of state in the Governor General and are very free to govern themselves without fear of meddling from England. The reforming of Australia into a republic would only introduce an absurd amount of political upheaval.
