Ernst Roets defends Tucker Carlson and President Trump’s criticism of the regime in South Africa. Carlson and Trump received accusations of racism for their concerns about the South African government. The reality is that the regime in that country is largely dysfunctional and socialist, but racial dynamics prevent productive criticisms. The Left will not stand for the criticisms of humanitarian crises inflicted by a regime that happens to be compromised of people of color. The circumstances of South Africa have taught Roets four important lessons. Those are that rationalism is overrated, culture outweighs politics in forming a society, a society that is dependent on the state cannot last, and that the future can only improve by remembering and drawing from the past.
