FAANGs Kill - CPAC FL 2022
Oklahoma Senator James Lankford, Rachel Bovard of the conservative Partnership Institute, and Sean Davis of The Federalist discuss issues with big tech on a panel at CPAC Florida 2022. Big tech is showing their hand with the accounts they choose to censor. They selectively silence conservative accounts like those of President Trump but allow terrorist groups and leaders to continue utilizing their social media accounts. The Kremlin is allowed to spew their propaganda but pro-life group, Live Action, is prevented from dispersing information about saving the life a baby after taking an abortion pill. Advertisements for abortion pills are still promoted, however, in a front and center position. Texas Right to Life and Parler have received similar treatments as Live Action, but Facebook will actively enable human smuggling information in its platform. Unfortunately, big tech companies have a monopoly on the dispersal of information. Even alternative social media platforms struggle to succeed because Apple refuses to support an app for these platforms. Elected officials know that illegal activity is occurring on social media and that human traffickers are using social media but have refused to take action against them. The panel advocates for legislators to apply anti-trust laws to big tech companies and to employ clearer legal regulation on social media to protect the privacy, safety, and liberty of Americans.
