Texas representative Beth Van Duyne joins Elaine Beck from Mount Vernon on this episode of It’s Not About Us. Van Duyne began her involvement at the local level as a citizen concerned about recreation areas for her children. She then became mayor of her city, Irving, Texas. As mayor, she endorsed President Donald Trump and then joined his administration working for Dr. Ben Carson in the Department of Housing and Urban Development. From there, she took the leap to run for Congress and is now almost three years into serving her state in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Van Duyne offers encouragement through her story to all Americans wanting to make a difference, “People who stand up and get involved in their community and actually put their time and their effort behind their mouth, people get things done, people come to you.”
