Jack Brewer, former NFL player and Captain, joins Liberty & Justice
Jack Brewer is a former NFL player and Captain and is the founder of the Jack Brewer Foundation that combats poverty in impoverished areas around the world. Brewer joins Matt Whitaker on this episode of Liberty & Justice to bring awareness to the organization’s efforts to teach leadership skills and fight the epidemic of fatherlessness in poor communities.
Brewer believes accountability and self-discipline are vital for successful leadership but are unfortunately lacking in underserved communities. His organization seeks to counter that and “instill Biblical disciplinary principles.” One of the ways JBF does this is through its robust Second Chance prison ministry. The prison ministry is personal to Brewer who first visited a prison at the age of eight to visit an incarcerated family member. The Second Chance program works with prisons around the nation to reform and inspire inmates through Christian love and affirmation.
“We’re going into the prisons first leading with the Word of God but more importantly trying to gives these fatherless men, because the vast majority of men in prison are fatherless, trying to give these fatherless men a relationship with Father God and then second, prepare them so they can be fathers to their kids. If you start with that in mind then the vocational skills, and the working ,and all the other things really fall into place,” Brewer comments.
Brewer has personally seen the remarkable transformations of former inmates into not only successful civilians but good fathers, husbands, and leaders in their communities, living testimonies to the ability to overcome adversity.
Brewer also leads Athletes for America as part of the America First Policy Institute. Athletes for America seeks to bring patriotic athletes together in order to counter the victim mentality adopted by many other professional athletes. Brewer hopes this initiative will present a different message, one of patriotism and positivity, to America’s children.
