Mária Schmidt criticizes the communist agenda threatening Hungarian independence today. Hungarians have a great tenacity for persevering and surviving occupation. They survived centuries of Hapsburg overrule and more recently overthrew Soviet and communist occupation in the twentieth-century. However, they were almost promptly attacked by communism again from Western Europe upon emerging from Soviet communism. Today, Hungary faces communist threats from the European Union. The European Union is endangering Hungarian sovereignty, a luxury, Hungarians highly value after the events of the previous century. They turn to the United States for a friend and ally but look over with disappointment at President Biden. Hungarians are taking their future into their own hands. They are enacting laws and electing officials that will safeguard Hungarian independence.
