On this episode of Liberty & Justice, Iowa U.S. Representative Mariannette Miller-Meeks joins Matt Whitaker for the 38th episode of Liberty & Justice. Miller-Meeks shares life on the campaign trail. The congresswoman is hitting the road around Iowa on her own campaign and supporting other conservatives campaigning to representative the state.
Along the way, she is listening to Iowans who are concerned about a multitude of issues, including the effects of the open border. Miller-Meeks shares the fears of constituents related to the fentanyl and terrorists crossing the border, imposing harm on Americans. She shares that Iowans are also concerned about education after the negative impacts of remote learning and mask mandates in schools.
She discusses some of the challenges on the campaign trail in Iowa unique to the state. Unlike some larger states like New York or California, Iowa lacks the same and number of communication avenues. Nonetheless, Miller-Meeks attributes the success and effectiveness of her campaigns to her hard-working team.
Miller-Meeks divulges the hard work her and her Republican minority co-workers in Congress have already done, and hope to continue, to advance the best interests of the American people.
“I didn’t go to Congress to be a show horse. I went to Congress to be a workhorse. That’s what I’ve done my entire life. When I left home at sixteen to find a way to become a doctor from a family of ten with my parents, when no one had ever gone to college, it took hard work, and I’m used to that. It’s what I know how to do best,” she states.
Though the Republicans are currently the minority in Congress, Miller-Meeks is proud that they have still managed to pass thirteen bills and all unanimously without compromising their conservative principles, but actually promoting common sense measures.
