Michael Shellenberger - CPAC Australia 2022
Michael Shellenberger combats the climate change and green energy narrative in his keynote speech at CPAC Australia 2022. Shellenberger criticizes the transition to alternative sources of fuel that has come with a high cost to Australians despite coal remaining the default and most reliable source of energy. Reliance on unreliable energy from water, wind, and solar has decreased the overall use of energy but increased the cost. That is, people are paying more to receive less. Further, solar panels have only become affordable because China uses the slave labor of Uyghurs to produce them. So-called renewable and green energy is, in reality, far more damaging to the earth. The world has been sold a false narrative of environmentalism for such a long time as environmentalism has evolved into a kind of religion that has taken the place that Christianity once occupied in Western culture. Shellenberger advocates for a return to traditional principles that respect freedom, prosperity and individualism. As for a truly viable alternative energy source, Shellenberger argues for nuclear power for its clean and reliable properties.
