Leader of Brexit and host of GB TV news channel Nigel Farage delivers remarks at CPAC 2023 on the international conservative movement. Conservatism is thriving in Europe as seen in Italy and Hungary, but struggling in the English-speaking world. Farage’s own conservative party in the United Kingdom betrayed its own principles and its constituents and ruled like liberals when it won power. Australia, Farage laments, is even worse off and conservatives there comprise a minority portion of their government. The conservative movement in the United States, too, is facing similar challenges. Traditional values and free speech are attacked by the mainstream media, big tech, and all branches and levels of government, and the establishment Republican Party is abandoning conservative principles. Farage, however, concludes by sharing the story of Scotland ousting its First Minister over her attempt to implement radical transgender policies as encouragement that, though these are difficult times, the majority of the populations of these countries are still conservative and that the silent majority can still prevail.
