Senior Advisor at America First Legal Ian Prior, Virginia Lieutenant Governor Winsome Sears, and Dripping Spring, Texas Independent School District Trustee Olivia Barnard comprise a panel moderated by CPAC Now co-host Mercedes Schlapp at CPAC 2023 on education and parental rights. The Left is attacking the foundations of the United States by eroding the quality of the public education system. The Left is indoctrinating the next generations with gender, racial, and sexual ideologies and failing to adequately teach legitimate subjects evidenced by the sharp decline of literacy rates and proficiency in math and science. Children are even being put in vulnerable situations for the sake of political correctness. Prior sites a case where a young girl was assaulted in the women’s restroom by a boy claiming to be transgender. The girl and her family were given little support and the school refused to change its policy allowing students to use the bathroom belonging to the opposite gender. Parents, like those of the victim, concerned about the ineffective public schools and the safety of their children, are being forced to send their children to the failing public schools, demonized as domestic terrorists for voicing their concerns, and robbed of their rights to choose the education their children receive and to be informed of both their children’s behavior and the content of the curriculum at their children’s school. While the Left is working to make children wards of the state, Sears, Barnard, and Prior are fighting for school choice, improved quality of public school education, and student safety. Sears is supporting and proposing conservative legislation in Virginia. Barnard is promoting excellence in education on her local school board, and Prior is spreading the message of education reform through his book, Parents of the World Unite.
