Quad Goal: Fighting Communist China from All Four Corners - CPAC FL 2021
Tennessee Senator Bill Hagerty and Ambassador Robert Lighthizer sit on a panel at CPAC Florida 2021 moderated by CPAC Chairman Matt Schlapp. The panel considers national security and foreign policy strategies to stunt the growth of Chinese international influence. Lighthizer knows from his time as an ambassador that the Trump administration’s focus on the American worker even in international affairs was the most effective policy attitude for both domestic and international welfare. President Trump championed trade deals with ‘the quad’, countries neighboring China, such as Japan. Hagerty and Lighthizer contributed to one such deal that partnered Tennessee farmers with Japanese farmers to encourage domestic agricultural advancement and discourage reliance on Chinese agriculture. Fair and reciprocal trade deals with like-minded nations, such as that, are the key to building up American industry to outcompete Chinese manufacturing and force China into submission.
