Star of the History Channel show Pawn Stars Rick Harrison inspired patriotism with his speech at CPAC 2018. Harrison himself achieved the American Dream despite not completing high school due to debilitating epileptic seizures. He credits his challenging but loving upbringing of his parents that instilled in him patriotism and work ethic, which gave him the ability to succeed as an entrepreneur. He firmly believes that the United States is the only country where a person who has faced the difficulties he faced as a child could then accomplish what he accomplished as a businessman. In order for children today to still have that opportunity, Harrison finds that the education requires reforming to teach them real, valuable history, economics, and trade skills. He advocates for vocational schools that teach trades, such as, electricians and plumbers, that are just as, if not more, valuable than the trades college degrees teach. The key to this, again, goes back to the education system teaching American exceptionalism and empowering young Americans to succeed through strong work ethic.
