The Bill Walton Show with George Gilder and John Tammy

Editor of Real Clear Markets John Tamny co-hosts this episode of The Bill Walton Show with Bill Walton that features distinguished guest George Gilder. Gilder is an author with a specialty in information theory and his books largely deal with the theme that “wealth is knowledge”.

“Information theory is really the foundation of our modern era,” Gilder says. He takes that theory which is highly applicable to the technology of our age and applies it also to economics, which is increasingly incorporating technology.

Gilder, like he predicted the internet forty years ago, now predicts a global currency to evolve out of the current virtual cryptocurrency that is based on time.

“When you run out of money, what you’re really running out of is the time to earn more money. That’s what money is, is time,” Gilder states. “Time is the basic measuring stick that governs our lives, and it’s also the foundation of money, and that’s the information theory. The information theory of money is essentially time. It’s tokenized time. It’s time converted into a form that can sustain all the transactions of the existing economy and allow investment into the future.”
