The @BillWaltonShow: "It’s High Time to Retire Senator Tim Kaine" w/Sen. Candidate Scott Parkinson
Scott Parkinson, a 2024 Republican candidate for Senate in Virginia and Vice President of Club for Growth, is Bill Walton’s guest on this episode of The Bill Walton Show. Parkinson threw his hat in the ring for Senate to reclaim Democrat Tim Kaine’s seat for the Republican Party. Greg Youngkin’s victory for governor gave Parkinson realistic hope that a Republican could win this Senate seat and was, thus, emboldened to launch his campaign.
“I think Virginia is very much in play thanks to the blueprint Greg Youngkin laid out in his gubernatorial race in 2021. So, in evaluating my options, the window of opportunity certainly seemed like it was open, and I began to seriously consider running in January 2023,” Parkinson recalled. “Tim Kaine is a career politician. He’s been on the ballot nine times, in office almost thirty years, and you’re right, his voting record is not that of a blue dog. It’s that of a socialist. He votes with Bernie Sanders 94% of the time now.”
Parkinson is promising to be a refreshing change for Virginians. He is tough on all the major issues of the economy, education, national security, immigration, and abortion. He wants education safe from violence and radical gender, racial, and sexual ideology. He advocates for deregulation that takes American business away from China and brings it back to the United States. He wants a stronger military and foreign policy stance to deescalate world tensions, and he advocates for border security and enforcing immigration policies. Still more, perhaps the biggest difference between Parkinson and Kaine, and the issue promising to be the big issue for this race, is Parkinson’s staunch pro-life position.
“I’m a pro-life conservative. I have four children of my own. I have three daughters and a son. I’ve witnessed the miracle of life coming into the world four times. I’m grateful I didn’t miss any of their births while traveling or anything like that. My kids mean the world to me, and my faith also teaches me that we need to protect life at all stages,” Parkinson stated.
Parkinson’s strong conservatism is vouched for by the many endorsements from the likes of Lauren Boebert, Byron Donalds, Tommy Tuberville, and many other strong, conservative representatives. His campaign is still in the early stages but is spending this valuable time building a donor base to meet Kaine on a more level playing field after the primary.
