The @BillWaltonShow w/ Stella Morabito and Mark Tapscott
Author of the Weaponization of Loneliness Stella Morabito along with HillFaith Founding Editor Mark Tapscott have a roundtable discussion with Bill Walton on developments in the federal government’s weaponization of loneliness.
Morabito’s book reveals how the potent combination of identity politics, political correctness, and the mob enforce a culture of conformity and isolation leading to an epidemic of loneliness and a loss en masse of identity and individuality.
“Identity politics, which serves to divide us, categorize us, as, you know, not individual human beings who are unique or made in the image of God, but just pigeonhole us into oppressor or victim status, that’s identity politics. Political correctness is meant to induce self-censorship, to make us either shut up or even lie about what we believe in order to gain social approval, and then of course, you’ve got the mob, and mobs come in many different forms whether it’s a street mob like Antifa or a human relations department in a corporation or social media mobs. All of that [is] meant to enforce identity politics and political correctness, which is meant to divide and separate us,” Morabito explains.
The Left is not letting up on their tactics either. The Surgeon General recently issued an advisory declaring an epidemic of loneliness, a move that Morabito says would “bureaucratize and regulate human relationships.” Additionally, Senator Chris Murphy (D-Connecticut) introduced the Strategies for Social Connection Act that calls for the establishment of a council in the White House to interfere in and dictate social relationships. In short, the Left seeks to be the solution to the problem they created, but “of course, the solution always magnifies the power, the influence, the cost, and the consequences of government,” Tapscott remarks.
Tapscott meanwhile observes a parallel movement of resistance to these tactics manifested prominently in the parents movement and the rise of school choice protections at the state level among other facets. The healthy response that Morabito’s book has received reinforces this encouraging trend that Americans are waking up to the epidemic of loneliness and anti-thought agenda wrought on them by the totalitarian Left.
