CEO of the National Rifle Association, Wayne LaPierre, speaks at CPAC 2023 about protecting the vision of the Founding Fathers. LaPierre attacks politicians who strive to implement their own personal agenda in legislation at the expense of the freedoms of the American people. LaPierre’s organization, the NRA, has been the victim of such politicians seeking to eliminate organizations standing in the way of stripping Americans of their constitutional rights. The state of New York, in particular, targeted the NRA by threatening businesses to cut ties with the Second Amendment organization. Governor Cuomo even explicitly stated his intention to shut down the NRA for good. As a result, the patriotic organization could not write checks and lost partnerships with corporations. The NRA fought back in the courts. Though they initially won their case, it was later overturned. LaPierre warns the danger this poses to the First Amendment. The NRA is taking the case further and the results will either uphold the right to free speech or reveal to Americans that the government is no longer protecting their constitutional rights.
