Zoltán Kovács - CPAC Hungary 2022
Zoltán Kovács focuses on moral imperialism and fake news in the culture war within the media in his speech at CPAC Hungary 2022. Moral imperialism is the shaming of a conservative policy as inhumane, downright evil, or most commonly, racist. The Hungarian government was subjected to this moral imperialism after Prime Minister Orbán’s decision to close the country’s border to Middle East refugees. German journalists dared to lecture Hungarians on their apparent moral obligation to accept Syrian migrants. The same treatment followed relating to environmental policies, the pandemic, and child and family protection legislation. The Left uses fake news, or misinterpreted or manufactured information, to support its false narrative about the Right and its own agenda. Kovács has found that a position against and also receiving fake news has united conservatives in both the United States and Hungary. Conservatives in both countries are facing attacks from the Left in the form of false information. The countries can find, Kovács proposes, mutually beneficial allies in one another on this front.
